Avraham Avinu was given many blessings by Hashem as a reward for his incredible faith. He came to an understanding that there had to be only one G-d on his own.
He was able to do this in his quest for truth. He used his mind to realize the foolishness of his generation, which included his own father.
He was promised, “Those who bless you will be blessed, and those who curse you will be cursed.” This is found in two other places in the Torah as well.
This is also meant to be a message to the nations of the world. They will receive great reward if they treat the Jews properly. And they will suffer greatly if they treat the Jews badly.
Bill Clinton once said that his pastor reminded him of these verses in the Torah, and he never forgot them. Ironically, he said this when he was trying to force Israel into a deal that was not in its interest.
Nevertheless, history has proven the truth of this blessing. Empires have risen and fallen. Places like Spain that once had great influence in the world, have become insignificant after expelling the Jews from their land.
The world needs to be reminded of this truth. They need to be aware of their ultimate fate for turning against G-d’s chosen people.
The Torah does not lie. The words in it are holy and prophetic. The truth is abundantly clear that “those who bless us will be blessed. And those who curse us, will be cursed.”
